Self-Care Skills Through Play

Children who acquire self-care skills during childhood are more successful than others in terms of life skills in adulthood. The more a person can meet their own basic needs and does not require significant support from others, the easier it becomes for them to achieve their planned and targeted goals. This enables them to develop life skills.

Play provides children with the appropriate conditions and opportunities to practice in order to acquire life skills. From an early age, children have the opportunity to experience life skills related to health, care, and shelter, such as cleaning themselves, preparing their meals, making their beds, organizing their clothes, and dressing themselves, through play and play materials. Through these experiences, children also learn to evaluate potential opportunities and protect themselves from potential dangers within the game.

As a result of learning through play, individuals acquire life skills that they can use throughout their lives, especially during childhood and adolescence. Self-care behaviors within games, whether played spontaneously or in a structured manner, reinforce these learnings for children.
